The Lockheed P-38 Lightning is a guest fighter that is a composite of the P-38 in both Capcom's 1943: The Battle of Midway and Psikyo's Strikers 1945. The P-38 is a single-weapon mode fighter. It can use either the Laser or Missile weapon at one time.
Description[]
The P-38 is an unusual fighter. It has two weapons, one of which can be active at any one time. Both weapons are situational use; you will not use only one all the time. It has below average speed and a powerful, but imprecise, bomber special. Because of its old-school style weaponry, the P-38 is a strategic fighter that is recommended for advanced players.
Loadout[]
Laser weapon[]
3-Way Gun: This weapon is from 1943: The Battle of Midway. It is a machine gun that fires in three directions. Higher power levels increase the number of bullets shot at once. This weapon is useful for taking out swarms of lesser enemies all over the screen. However, it lacks the punch needed to take down larger enemies, unless you get dangerously close and point-blank them.
Missile weapon[]
Auto-Shell: This weapon is from 1943: The Battle of Midway. The P-38 fires a constant stream of shells straight forward. Higher power levels increase the number of shells shot at once. This is an extremely powerful weapon, even far away from the target, due to its constant firing capabilities. However, its main disadvantage is its lack of defensive coverage. Coupled with the slow speed of the P-38, this weapon leaves the P-38 vulnerable in big popcorn enemy swarms.
Bomber[]
1-Ton Bomb: This weapon is from Strikers 1945. The P-38 does a loop-de-loop, releasing a powerful incendiary bomb. This Bomber is imprecise to use in scoring run situations, due to the fact it prevents the P-38 from moving and firing while it is performing the loop-de-loop. This is one of the most powerful dropped bombs in the game.
Slaves[]
1943 Wingmen: These wingmen from the 1943 games block enemy bullets and assume the standard Raiden Fighters formations.
